Jessica
Nelson
Jessica
Nelson is proud to serve as intern for Inspiration
for Writers, Inc. Originally from
Morgantown, West Virginia, she studies
Creative Writing at West Virginia Wesleyan
College, where she is the American Scholar—a
competitive honor awarded only once per year
that includes a four-year scholarship for
tuition, room and board. An avid reader of
many genres, she devours any book she can
get her hands on. She has won many awards in
both fiction and poetry at the West Virginia
Writers Annual Writing Competition and WVW
Writer’s Wall Awards, and served as an
intern at the 2014 WVW’s
Conference. She is a Gold Key and
multi-Silver Key recipient in the national
Scholastic Art and Writing Competition,
which gives recognition at a regional and
potentially national level to high school
students for excellence in art and writing.
Her dream is to edit books by day and write
by night, and is thankful for Inspiration
for Writers, Inc., which has brought her one
step closer to that dream.
Jessica's prose poem, "I Am Not A Poet," was
recently published in the Anthology of
Appalachian Writers, Vol. 7, Homer Hickam
Edition.
